Science/Health Sciences Librarian
UNB Saint John

Welcome! My name is Alex Goudreau and I'm a librarian with UNB Libraries. I'm based on the Saint John campus, and you can usually find me in the Hans W. Klohn Library (room 117) Monday to Friday. I'm happy to meet with you in person, or online through Microsoft Teams. Drop in to see me, contact me by email at alex.goudreau@unb.cathrough Microsoft Teams chat or book a meeting with me.

As the librarian supporting nursing, health, and science programs, I'm here to help students, faculty and staff along every stage of the research process, and with any library needs.

Here are some ways I can help students succeed:

  • Get started understanding the resources available to you through UNB Libraries and how to best navigate them.
  • Develop topics for a research project or assignment.
  • Strategize how to search for information and access scholarly sources (such as data, statistics, books, etc.) and peer-reviewed articles, including how to use academic databases and Google Scholar
  • Identify and evaluate information, including how to distinguish source types and how to choose sources based on your research context.
  • Learn best practices to read scholarly sources and critically appraise research methods.
  • Manage your sources and research using a citation management program like Zotero
  • How to create and use information ethically

I also support researchers as a member of UNB Libraries' Knowledge Synthesis & Systematic Review Service team, and a core member of the JBI University of New Brunswick Nursing Research Centre. Visit my Google Scholar profile or my ORCID page for a list of my research publications.

I joined UNB Libraries as the Science & Health Sciences Librarian in 2017. Before this, I worked as a Health Sciences Librarian at Horizon Health Network. I'm a UNB alumni, receiving my Bachelor of Arts (History) in 2006, and Master of Arts (History). I received my Master of Library and Information Science from Western University in 2009.
