The Centre for Digital Scholarship (CDS) has been providing digital publication services for regional, national, and international academic partners for over 20 years. Our clients range from journals with decades of print publication to new “born-digital” publications. The CDS offers a wide range of services for current and prospective scholarly publications, and can help editorial staff to develop a digital publication that meets their needs. Our services include creation of new digital publications, hosting digital versions of established print publications, large-scale back-run digitization projects, and a state-of-the-art online peer review and management system.
Electronic Journal Publishing
The Centre for Digital Scholarship has provided digital publication services – in one form or another – for an increasing number of academic journals for nearly two decades. The Centre for Digital Scholarship offers a wide range of services for current and prospective journals and can help journal editorial staff do nearly anything from simple hosting of digital versions of issues, to full back-run digitization, to fully-online peer review and journal management.
The CDS provides hosted journal services using a locally maintained installation of the Public Knowledge Project’s open source Open Journal Systems platform, and can include any of OJSs core feature set, including:
- online journal creation and management
- submissions management and peer-review
- integrated subscriptions management
- email notifications
- online payment
- usage statistics
- DOI management
CDS Publishing Services staff have experience with all aspects of electronic journal creation, and can provide everything from basic training and site hosting to full assistance with publication, including design, quality control, layout editing, and industry standard metadata, PDF, and HTML creation. For more information on CDS Journal Publication Services, please contact Publications Services Coordinator, James Kerr.
