Students can scan photos, images or documents using a new scanning station situated in the HIL Learning Commons.

Basic instructions for use and copyright information are posted beside the scanner. Research Help Desk staff can offer assistance if necessary.

Eileen Wallace Collection Closed For Renovations ~ Oct. 14 – 16

The Nan Gregg Room on the 4th floor of HIL,  home of the Eileen Wallace Children’s Literature Collection, will be closed from Tuesday October 14th-Thursday October 16th for the installation of new carpet.

Writing Centre Evening Hours

UNB Libraries is pleased to announce that UNB’s Writing and Study Skills Centre is offering a drop-in evening service for students in HIL’s Learning Commons beginning Tuesday evening, Sept. 23 until Dec. 4.

The drop-in service will be available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00-10:00pm in the Research Consultation Office (Room 116) in the Learning Commons.

“Banned Books” Display In HIL

UNB Libraries is celebrating “Freedom to Read” week by displaying a selection of banned or challenged books.  The display entitled “Closing Books Shuts Out Ideas”is situated directly in front of the Research Help Desk (main floor) in the Harriet Irving Library (HIL) Learning Commons.  

Fredericton Heritage Icons On Display

Harriet Irving Library is pleased to host a new display in the Commons Café entitled “2008 Fredericton Heritage Icons.”

Organized by Fredericton Heritage Trust, the display contains icons selected via individual nomination to represent various aspects of Fredericton’s history, natural environment and culture. 

Cool Tools @ HIL Learning Commons

Registration is now open for UNB Libraries’ Fall Cool Tools workshops. From finding e-books, searching our film collection, database searching and avoiding plagiarism, to using RefWorks, Cool Tools workshops are free and will cover many library research basics.
