Reading For Fun

The popular reading collections launched late last year at HIL and the Science and Forestry Library are proving…well, popular.  We highly recommend reading for pleasure and relaxation and invite you to visit one or both locations to stock up on great books.  You will find both fiction and non-fiction titles, as well as graphic novels.   (The collection at HIL is opposite the Film Collection on the ground floor.)

We invite donations for these collections.  We are looking particularly for recent trade paperbacks in “like new” condition.  We will also accept hardcover books with dust jackets.

Our libraries are offering extended hours prior to and during the upcoming exam period.  Hours are listed below:

HARRIET IRVING LIBRARY (March 29 – April 19)

Monday – Friday  8:00 am – Midnight

Saturday – Sunday  10:00am – Midnight

SCIENCE & FORESTRY LIBRARY ((March 29 – April 19)

Monday – Sunday  8:00 am – Midnight

ENGINEERING LIBRARY (April 4 – April 19)

Monday – Thursday  8:00 am – Midnight

Friday  8:00 am – 11:00 pm

Saturday  10:00 am – 11:00 pm

Sunday  11:00 am – Midnight

WARD CHIPMAN LIBRARY (March 13 – April 20)

Monday – Friday  8:15 am – 11:00 pm

Saturday – Sunday  11:00 am – 11:00 pm

PLEASE NOTE:  Closing hours will change on the last exam day (April 20), check with individual libraries for details.

Lunch Zone For Commons Cafe

In response to such a high demand for seating during lunchtime  the seating area  is being reserved for those eating between the hours of 11:30 am  and 2:00 pm.  This is the only area in the library where food is permitted.  We thank you for your cooperation.

International Film History Screening Series

The Department of English and the Harriet Irving Library present the International Film History Screening Series.

This series features significant films from across the world.  Screenings take place in the Milham Room (100) in the Harriet Irving Library.

Showtime is at 6:00 PM.  Admission is free.

The schedule for March is as follows:

March 22,  U-Carmen

225 Event Celebrates William Brydone Jack

As part of UNB’s 225th anniversary festivities, members of the university community are invited to attend a celebration recognizing the accomplishments of one of UNB’s first presidents, William Brydone Jack. It will be held Thursday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m. in the Stewart Room at the Harriet Irving Library.
