
The School of Graduate Studies and UNB Libraries' Harriet Irving Library Research Commons announce the winners of this year's Images of Research Challenge
The 2025 editions of the Images of Research Challenge invited UNB graduate students to submit an image they believe encapsulates their research and to explain in 200 words or less its association to their research. The challenge was adjudicated by a cross-disciplinary panel of UNB faculty, and the winners were announced March 27th at the annual Graduate Student Research Conference, held in Harriet Irving Library Research Commons.
Winners of the Images of Research 2025 Challenge are:
First Place:
Tides of Change, by Liam Brennan, Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, Applied Science and Engineering
Second Place:
Sweet Illusion: Natural or Engineered, by Elena Vladimirova, Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management
Third Place:
Organized Chaos, by Zachary Titus, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering
Honourable Mention:
Plants and Bacteria: Symbiotic Relationship, by Isabela Freire, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science
Honourable Mention:
Shoes are Extraordinary Media, by Ryan Drew, Interdisciplinary Studies
Audience Choice Award:
Little Canadian Plates, by Heidi Lauwerijssen, Faculty of Kinesiology
Images of Research submissions will be exhibited in the Harriet Irving Library Research Commons Data Visualization Lab (Room 320D) 11am until 1:30pm weekdays (excluding April 3rd) and daily at the Hans W. Klohn Commons from March 31st until April 11th.
