Group Study Rooms are now bookable online!

If you need to talk with your classmates about a project, find the perfect space in a group study room! Check the availability of rooms for today, tomorrow, or next week, then book it online.

Group study rooms are available at the Harriet Irving Library, the Engineering & Computer Science Library, and the Science & Forestry Library in Fredericton or at the Hans W. Klohn Commons in Saint John.

Look under QUICK LINKS on the UNB Libraries’ homepage for the link to “Group Study Rooms.”

Evening drop-in services have resumed at both the Harriet Irving and Engineering/CS Libraries (Monday to Thursday, 6:00 – 10:00 pm). Come by around 6:00 to sign in for a half-hour time slot.

Students can also make an appointment with the UNB Writing Centre (located in C. C. Jones Student Services Centre) during daytime hours. To make an appointment, email wss@unb.ca, phone 506-452-6346, or use the on-line booking service on the Writing Centre’s homepage.

UNB Libraries, the New Brunswick Latino Association, and the Department of Culture & Language Studies at UNB present the award-winning Argentine film, “The Secret in Their Eyes,”
by Juan José Campanella.

Winner of the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 2010, this film centers around a retired legal counsellor who writes a novel hoping to find closure for one of his past unresolved homicide cases and for his unreciprocated love with his superior – both of which still haunt him decades later.

This free public screening will be held in the Milham Room (Room 100), Harriet Irving Library, UNB Fredericton Campus (free parking) on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 7:00 pm.

The film will be shown in Spanish with English subtitles, and introduced by Dr. Sophie M. Lavoie.

STUesdays with Barry!

On Tuesdays, Barry Cull, Harriet Irving Library’s St. Thomas University Liaison Librarian, will be holding office hours at STU in Brian Mulroney Hall, Room 203, normally from 10am until 3pm.

Walk-in service is available by chance, but appointments are preferred, and can be made on short notice by e-mailing Barry at bcull@unb.ca or calling 458-7057.

Barry will be available to assist students, faculty, and staff with any library-related question.  Individuals and small groups are welcome.

No library research question is too basic or too advanced! Whether you do not really know what a peer-reviewed article is, are having trouble digging out an obscure information source, or need assistance with an advanced database, Barry can help you with any type of research problem.

The Harriet Irving Library is holding a special book sale in aid of the Medabo zena Reading Room in Ethiopia. The books are in very good condition without library labels or other markings. The collection includes collectible children’s books as well as popular literature, history, literature, art history and many other subjects. The sale will be held in the Learning Commons, Harriet Irving Library from February 12-17. Last year we raised  over $1,300 to help establish the Alicho Wuriro Reading Room in Ethiopia.
