OCT. 10- SPANISH EMBASSY FILM SERIES PRESENTS: YO TAMBIÉN/ME TOO

The Spanish Embassy, UNB Libraries, and the Dept. of Culture & Language Studies present the award-winning Spanish film, “Yo también/Me too”, winner of 2 Goya awards in 2010 (Spanish Oscar Awards).  This free public screening will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, @ 7:00 p.m., Milham Room (Rm. 100), Harriet Irving Library, UNBF Campus (free parking).

Made in 2010, “Yo también” is a film written and directed by Antonio Naharro and Álvaro Pastor. In the story, Daniel – a recent university graduate with Down’s Syndrome – falls in love on his first day at work in the Department of Social Services. Played by Lola Dueñas (Best Actress at the 2010 Goyas), Laura is an outsider who spends her nights in the city’s crowded clubs and singles’ bars, escaping her problems in the arms of total strangers. Yet despite their apparent incompatibility, the two strike up a moving, bittersweet friendship that touches them both and eventually sets them on the road to happiness. The New York Times qualifies this film as “sensitive without being unrealistically utopian.”
