Student Job Opportunities In Our Libraries

Interested in working at the Library this Fall?  Each year, UNB Libraries hires Student Assistants for part-time work during the Fall and Winter terms. Library departments are already working on the hiring process for jobs that begin in September. 

If you’re interested in library work please submit an application form, with your resume and timetable attached, to Lyn Richardson (lrichard@unb.ca) or drop off your application at Harriet Irving Library, Room 311.

RefWorks For Faculty – August 26

All faculty are invited to attend a special RefWorks session from 9:30 to 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 26 in the Harriet Irving Library’s Learning Lab, Room 112.

The special 90 minute session for faculty will cover:

• importing citations from research databases and library catalogues,

• using Write-N-Cite to add references to your papers and format them in the citation style of your choice,

• using RefShare to create class reading lists that you can post in your Blackboard course or to a website.

This session is free but registration is required. Please visit //training.unb.ca to register.

Library Blackboard: Faculty Training Sessions – Sept. 2 Or 3rd

Library Blackboard is a plug-in to Blackboard that enables instructors to add course-specific library e-resources and e-services to their Blackboard course sites.

Instructors who add the Library Blackboard module to their courses provide students with a convenient and focused gateway to online indexes and journal collections, as well as access to the library public catalogue and any course reserves.

Faculty Institute – Aug. 21

Faculty are invited to attend UNB Libraries’ 8th annual half-day Faculty Institute.

Come along and get an overview of new library resources available for teaching and research in the air-conditioned comfort of the Harriet Irving Library’s Milham Room. Then, tour the Learning Commons and catch up with faculty and library colleagues over lunch – we’re buying!

Among our featured resources this year will be the rapidly growing film collection, new online Reference sources, new article databases/e-Resources, and some great new RefWorks features. You’ll also have an opportunity to meet the new UNB Libraries Copyright Officer, who will explain how faculty and our libraries could be affected by the government’s proposed copyright legislation.
