The Popular Reading Collections at UNB Libraries in Fredericton and Saint John have been proving, well, popular. We highly recommend reading for pleasure and relaxation and invite you to visit one of our library locations to stock up on great books.

You will find best-selling fiction and non-fiction titles, as well as graphic novels.

If you have suggestions for books that you would like to see in the Popular Reading Collections, please let us know.

Flu Season is here!

Get your flu vaccine at the HIL Flu Clinic:

When:  Thursday, October 23rd

10:30 am – 3:00 pm

Where:  Reading Room (Rm. 109), Harriet Irving Library, UNBF

Cost:  $15 for students, $25 for faculty and staff

Please note that you will be required to wait for 15 minutes following your injection for your own safety!

In addition to the HIL Flu Clinic, flu shots are now available at the Student Health Centre and at one of the following clinics on campus:

• Friday, Oct 24th: 8:30am – 12:30pm Head Hall – Gillin Hall (Rm D108); 1:00pm – 3:30 pm at CC Jones Rm 024

• Wednesday, Oct 29th: 8:30am – 1:30pm at STU – J.B. O’Keefe Fitness Centre

• Thursday, Oct 30th: 10:30am – 1:30pm at Student Union Building – basement near food vendors

•Wednesday, Nov 5th: 8:30am – 1:30pm at STU –  J.B. O’Keefe Fitness Centre

• Thursday, Nov 6th: 10:30am – 1:30pm at University Bookstore

• Wednesday, Nov 12th: 9:00am – 1:00pm at Ludlow Hall, Room 26

• Thursday, Nov 13th: 8:30am – 1:30pm at Human Resources Dept., Rm 106 (near HR in Physics & Admin Building)

• Friday, Nov 14th: 9:00am – 1:00pm at Currie Centre Long Hall

Cost: $15 for students, $25 for staff and faculty.

Some people may qualify for free flu immunization.

We can only accept cash or cheque at the time of the injection!

Be prepared to wait 15 minutes AFTER your injection.

At UNBF Libraries, we’re helping you to de-stress during mid-terms by hosting Games Week!

You’ll be able to play board games and card games or build puzzles to your heart’s content!

And last but not least, on Friday October 17th, from 5-10pm in the Harriet Irving Library’s Milham Room, there will be a Game Night at the Library! Bring your friends, games, and snacks for an entertaining night of gaming fun!

Best-Looking Books Of 2013

Winning books from the 32nd annual Alcuin Society Awards for Excellence in Book Design in Canada are currently exhibited in the H.R. Stewart Exhibition Room (HIL, 5th floor).

Judges selected 37 winning titles from 232 Canadian entries published in 2013, from eight provinces, and 107 publishers. Gaspereau Press (Kentville, NS) was recognized for five of its designs. Twenty-nine of the prize-winning books are on display.

The Harriet Irving Library is the only New Brunswick venue hosting the book exhibit.

Place: H.R. Stewart Exhibition Room (HIL, 5th floor)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00am until 4:00pm
Dates: 4 September until 15 October 2014

The Alcuin Society is a Vancouver-based, non-profit society for the support and appreciation of fine books. In addition to the annual Book Design Competition, the Society publishes a quarterly journal, Amphora, and organizes lectures, workshops, exhibitions, and field visits on various aspects of the book.

Still on the 3rd floor, it is now located at the back of the building, near the rear elevator, across from the Government Documents, Data, and Maps/GIS Department.
