A staple of our print reference collection, the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), recently made its online debut on the UNB Libraries’ website. The Times describes the OED as “the ultimate authority of the English language as well as a history of English speech and thought from its infancy to the present day.”
Each OED entry provides: definitions, current pronunciation, alternate spellings, etymology, quotations plus a date chart. OED is updated quarterly with over 1,800 new or revised words.
