Library Lost And Found Overflowing

As students bundle up against the punishing January weather, the library Lost and Found is filling up. If you are missing a scarf or a hat or a pair of gloves, please don’t forget to check with us. Separate Lost and Founds are maintained at the Harriet Irving Library (Circulation), the Engineering and the Science and Forestry libraries. Keep warm!

Stewart Exhibition Room Closed Beginning Monday, 19 January 2004

The Stewart Exhibition Room in the Harriet Irving Library (5th Floor) will be closed to the public as of Monday, 19 January 2004, in order for staff to prepare a new exhibit to be opened in late spring. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Technical Services Move

UNB Libraries’ Technical Services operation is moving from its temporary quarters in the Incutech Building to the recently-renovated South Gym. As a result, new orders will not be catalogued until the move is completed. Furthermore, our retrieval service for orders marked as “received” in Quest is suspended until January 26th.

Irving Fund Applications Due By January 31st

UNB Libraries’ Irving Fund provides for the acquisition of monographs in support of new courses. The fund was launched in 1997 and has since then provided financial support to 249 new courses. The fund is an important source of new books for the library collections.

Library Web Services Unaffected By UNB Web Server Upgrades

With the holidays upon us, I wish to remind users to check the hours of opening (posted here) before making a trip the library.

Library Servers Temporarily Unavailable December 19th

All Library servers, excluding Quest but including the main web server at www.lib.unb.ca, will be unavailable for approximately 15 minutes on Friday, December 19th at 3:00 PM. The brief shutdown is necessary to make a number of hardware and software modifications. Systems will be fully functional immediately following the upgrade.

Collections Development Policy Approved

A new Collections Development Policy was approved by the University Senate on November 25, 2003. The policy governs the selection and acquisition of library materials and the maintenance of collections at UNB Libraries (Fredericton).

ACM Site Will Not Be Available On Saturday, November 22, 2003

Please note that due to a building power supply upgrade, the ACM site will not be available during the following period:

Saturday, November 22, 2003 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon EST (-5 hours GMT).

The power outage will affect access to the ACM Portal which is the gateway to:
