New Borrowing Policy

This news post is more than one year old. Some information may have changed.

UNB Libraries has a new borrowing policy that became effective on July 16, 2007. The most notable changes to the policy are:

  • 2 week loan period for undergraduate borrowers (with a guarantee of 2 weeks in case of a recall)
  • daily fine system of $1 per day/per item to a maximum of $10 (from the current $10 fine imposed after 30 days past due)

In creating the new policy, UNB Libraries’ staff examined current policies at other academic libraries and also considered our patrons’ borrowing habits and perceived desires. The aim of the new borrowing policy is to optimize the availability and use of library resources and to promote equity of access to information.

Please take a little time to review the new policy on the Library’s website at:

For further information, please contact Gillian Robinson, Head – Circulation Dept. at gillianr@unb.ca or Jocelyne Thompson, Head

7th Annual UNB Libraries’ Faculty Institute

This news post is more than one year old. Some information may have changed.

Back again by popular demand, our annual Faculty Institute will help you gear up for your fall teaching and research.

At this summer’s Institute, faculty will get an overview of all the major new electronic resources UNB Libraries have purchased in recent months: our latest online reference tools, new e-newspapers, recently acquired journal indexing databases, and more.

We will also provide an introduction to new ways of integrating library resources into your online courses in Blackboard.

Finally, since we realize that libraries are much more than just access to electronic information sources, we will give a preview of the Harriet Irving Library’s new Learning Commons, which is due to open in the Fall.

As usual, coffee and lunch is on us! This event is co-hosted by UNB Libraries and the UNB Centre for Enhanced Teaching and Learning.
