OER Collaborations

At UNB Libraries, we are dedicated to supporting instructors to find and utilize high-quality, and accessible OER. Please review the below information to understand what tasks our team of OER librarians can support, and which tasks are the responsibility of the instructor.

Librarians' role:

  • Offer workshops and one-on-one consultations educating on OER and how they are different from traditionally published course materials.
  • Conduct preliminary searches for exiting OER based on instructor or course needs.
  • Connect instructors to resources for critically evaluating existing OER.
  • Evaluate and recommend relevant OER platforms and repositories.
  • Provide guidance on issues of copyright and fair dealing.
  • Advise on the use of Creative Commons licenses.
  • Support faculty in their adaptation or creation of existing OER.
  • Liaise with AtlanticOER to connect instructors to funding opportunities.

Instructor's role:

  • Provide guidance on the types of instructional materials that are appropriate for students in your subject area.
  • Make the final call on the quality of resources.
  • Choose your OER materials and adapt them to suit your purposes.
  • Choose your pedagogical approach.

Please note that the availablity of librarians to support your use of OER in your courses may be subject to the time of year and individual librarians' schedules.
