Encaenia Traditions Exhibit

This news post is more than one year old. Some information may have changed.

To coincide with UNB’s 177th Encaenia ceremonies, Archives and Special Collections wish to announce their new exhibit “Encaenia Traditions” is open for viewing in the Stewart Room, 5th floor, Harriet Irving Library.

Discover the origins of “the burning of Anna” and the “con.” Learn about the 1906 and 2006 honorary degree recipients, the ceremonial mace and the encaenia tea.

The exhibit also features Dr. C.C. Jones – the 1st alumnus to attain the University’s highest office – in this, the centenary year of his installation as Chancellor (later, as President).

A variety of class composite photographs are displayed along with the Sir Howard Douglas medals and decorations in recognition of the newly-established UNB Student Honour Society named for him.

Take the opportunity to come and admire some rarely seen UNB memorabilia. The exhibit is open for viewing until August 4, Monday-Friday from 10:00am-4:00pm.
