Asphalt Binder and Biochar Mixing
In this photo it is displayed the process of adding a carbon rich material, known as Biochar, to the asphalt binder. It does make an effect on the binder of thickening, which leads (In addition to biochar) to easily see a "silver spiral" that demonstrates the process of mixing of these materials. It is easy to see that biochar is found as weel on the interior of the container as it is a mixing process that takes time and takes place at high temperatures. The goal of the ongoing research is to evaluate the rheological performance (Capacity to flow, in general terms) of the binder when this carbon material is added in different dosages. The porous structure of the biochar and the viscous behavior of the binder creates this curious result when mixing together.
