Event/Occasion/Significance: Pays tribute to one of New Brunswick's most famous and wealthy citizens who assisted in the university's geology programming and projects, which led to the discovery of resource material.
Plaque Inscription/Text Associated: Sir James Hamlet Dunn, Bart., Q.C.Financier and Industrialist. A native son of New Brunswick, he gave aid and encouragement to the geological studies of this university which contributed to the discovery of the new mineral resources and greatly enlarged the bounds of provincial prosperity.
Notes: Mr. George MacLeod, vice-president and general manager of Algoma Ore Properties, unveiled the plaque. MacLeod was introduced by Dr. Graham MacKenzie, F.R.S.C., head of the University's Department of Geology. University of New Brunswick President Mackay attended the ceremony.
