History: The Education Society was organized in 1935, when Dr. Wilfred Currier Keirstead recognized that certain topics of interest to Education students were not being addressed by the program curriculum. He believed that this information could be supplemented through guest lectures by educational leaders, teachers, and persons with special training in relevant fields.
Bachelor of Education Degrees were offered at UNB for the first time in 1950, with Professor R. J. Love acting as Education Professor and Head of the Department of Education. The introduction of the Bachelor of Education program at UNB caused a re-surgence in the Education Society, which had become inactive for a number of years.
