History: Organized by the SRC, the Campus Police were charged with the enforcement of a number of rules and regulations on the UNB campus. This was not a permanent force, but instead a level of responsibility granted to certain students to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of attendants of certain events held on campus. A chief was selected by the SRC from a pool of applicants to manage the Campus Police.
The Campus Police began as a student-only organization created to enforce regulations set out by the Student Disciplinary Code and the New Brunswick Liquor Control Act. The Campus Police reported infringements to the Student Disciplinary Committee, who held hearings and applied sanctions.
Activities: The Campus Police are hired out to maintain crowd control at a variety of events on and off campus, for which they must enforce the regulations set forth by the organizers.
Note(s): In order to join the Campus Police, a student is required to: be 19 years of age or older, enjoy working with a team, have a good academic standing, and possess a valid Standard First Aid/CPR certificate.
