Each poem is usually accompanied by research notes which set out date and place of composition, date(s) and place(s) of publication, critical comments and comments on literary allusions.
This series consists of 4 subseries: 1. poems, 1874-1884, 2. poems, 1885-1894, 3. poems, 1895-1904, and 4. poems, 1905-1942.

The date noted beside each poem's title is the date given on the collector's file
The Collected Poems of Sir Charles G. D. Roberts, edited by Desmond Pacey (1985) includes a complete publishing history of the poems listed in this series and of several other poems
