Shedding light on the dark side of wood products

As you gaze upon this image, you feel a sense of urgency. The lit match serves as a metaphor for the catastrophic effects of global warming on our planet.  Wood is quickly becoming a popular choice as a sustainable material in the construction industry. It's renewable, biodegradable, and has a lower carbon footprint compared to steel and concrete. But is it really as green as we think? The answer is not that simple. the process of harvesting and processing trees into lumber requires a lot of direct and indirect fuel combustion, which generates carbon emissions. These combustions are considered as the smoke of the lit match, and the wooden part of the match, it’s a stark reminder that even the most sustainable materials like wood still have an environmental impact. What I am going to do in my master's thesis is to develop a method for quantitatively assessing the carbon impacts of wood products produced in New Brunswick. As you look at the image again, also you can feel a sense of hope. Yes, the lit match represents the dire consequences of global warming, but the unburned wood of the match serves as a symbol of our potential for change.
