Maps & GIS
Since the 1950s, UNB Libraries has been building a working collection of maps and as of the 1990s
has been adding spatial data to extend our research and teaching as the data become available
(and affordable). The UNB Map Room has compiled a list of useful Internet sites of federal,
provincial and international sources of cartographic material to supplement the print collection
found in the UNB Libraries collection. Many items from the collection may be found in Quest,
UNB Libraries' catalogue, and most items in the collection may be borrowed for a period of
two weeks, subject to the same terms and
conditions as other materials in the UNB library system.
Cartographic material in the collection includes:
- New Brunswick mapping, including NB Forestry spatial files, property spatial data, and print
land grant maps
- Canadian National Topographic System maps and associated data files from Natural Resources
Canada
- Many Canadian geophysical and geological maps
- Travel and road maps for maps for major Canadian and US cities
- Selected foreign topographic maps
- The Geological Society of America Map and Chart Series
- Over 700 general, regional, and subject atlases of all parts of the world
- Books relating to cartography, air photo interpretation, and historical cartography
