Series 1, sub-series 1: Personal Scrapbooks of Alvin Shaw. -- 1940-1946, predominant 1943-1946. -- 10 cm of textual material.

Scope and Content: This sub-series consists of four scrapbooks, mainly related to Shaw's travels and service in World War II, as well as his time spent at the Khaki University of Canada during the immediate post-war period. Included are a number of postcards (b&w and colour), programs and brochures for various plays, concerts and famous sites, original b&w photographs, and currency from different European countries. There are also relevant newspaper articles, maps and crests, as well as issues of the Khaki University student newspaper. Of special interest are official military documents and pamphlets, including non-fraternization propaganda, personal messages from the C[ommander]-in-C[hief], an overlord movement order, and cease-fire telegrams.

Arrangement is chronological.
