Biographical sketch: Margaret Elizabeth Creswick was born in 1906 in Brighton, Ontario. Her parents were Rev. Walter and Mary Elizabeth Porter Creswick. She had four brothers and two sisters. She was known in the family as "Peggy," although in later life she insisted on being called Margaret. In 1941 Margaret Creswick married Archibald Hamilton Newman, who at the time of the marriage had two sons from a previous marriage, Ronald Edward Newman and John Hamilton Newman. Margaret and Archibald Newman resided in Ottawa for many years, and were both active in politics. Archibald Newman died in 1985 and Margaret Newman died on November 30, 1998, in Nepean, Ontario.

Scope and content: This collection contains two items -- 1 typescript and 1 holograph poem by Charles G. D. Roberts.
