Title: Marian Anderson fonds. -- [1974]. -- 1 cm of textual material

Biographical Sketch: Marian Anderson was born in 1896, daughter of Fredericton tailor William L. Anderson. She attended the Model School and the Fredericton High School on York Street. Upon high school graduation, Marian Anderson entered the University of New Brunswick in 1914 and graduated in 1918 with distinctions in science. During her studies at UNB, Marian was also involved in extracurricular activities. These included serving as senior editor of the University Monthly and occasionally contributing poems to this publication. She was also captain and forward on the ladies' basketball team. She later went on to receive the MSc degree from McGill University in 1920. She returned to Fredericton after her studies at McGill University. In 1930, Marian Anderson died at the age of 33.

Scope and Content: This fonds consists of a 68 page manuscript for the poetry collection A Piper Plays, 300 copies of which were printed in 1974 through the estate of Ethel Anderson in co-operation with the University of New Brunswick.
