ebrary: About the ebrary Readers

All ebrary readers allow you to view and interact with documents and include the following functionality:

  • Navigate to your search terms
  • Search within a document for new terms
  • Add documents to your bookshelf
  • Print and copy pages
  • Highlight text
  • Create and edit notes
  • Use ebrary InfoTools

Use the Unity Reader if you want to use text-to-speech and accessibility features.

ebrary QuickView Reader
The ebrary QuickView Reader runs within your web browser and works with Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. Currently QuickView does not permit InfoTools customization or citation customization but latter feature should be added in April 210.
ebrary Plug-in Reader
The ebrary Plug-in Reader runs inside your web browser and is available on Windows and Mac OS. You download and install the Plug-in Reader as a browser plug-in. The Plug-in Reader performs essentially the same tasks as the ebrary QuickView Reader.
ebrary Unity Reader
The ebrary Unity Reader runs outside your web browser as a separate application that is installed for you the first time you use it. Unity Reader works with Windows and Linux browsers if Java 1.6 is available on your computer.
Note: If you are using Mac OS X, you must use the ebrary QuickView Reader or the ebrary Plug-in Reader.
With the ebrary Unity Reader, you can use accessibility features, including text-to-speech, that are not supported by other readers.
