All areas of Nova Scotia are represented in these documents. Of particular significance are several volumes of militia commissions which are arranged by county and include the date of each commission. Other records include : proclamations; instructions; appointments; commissions; Indian treaties; military orders; declarations; certificates; leaves of absence; marriage licences, (frequently recorded on the same page with a totally different document); orders; licences to teach; pardons; oaths of allegiance; notices of land forfeiture and accounts.
